Curriculum Vitae — Ioannis Rellias
Ioannis Rellias was born and raised in Athens. He graduated from the 28th High School of Athens with a grade of ‘Excellent’ (19.6/20), receiving honours from the Municipality of Athens for his academic achievements. He was admitted through the national university entrance examinations to the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 2000 and graduated in 2006, honoured by the Municipality of Ioannina for his academic achievements. He subsequently completed his military service (2007), serving as the medical officer of a military unit and undertaking on-call duties at the military Emergency Department in a border guard battalion.
From 2008–2009, he served as a rural doctor at Kyparissia Hospital and at the under-resourced Regional Clinic in the mountain village of Sella, Messinia, whilst also working on call at the Emergency Department of Kyparissia Hospital.
In 2010, he trained in General Surgery at the Second Surgical Clinic of the ‘Tzaneio’ General Hospital of Piraeus, participating in a wide range of surgical procedures and gaining valuable experience.
He subsequently worked as a principal investigator and clinician on a multinational, multicentre clinical trial relating to immunotherapy for breast cancer at the ‘Agios Savvas’ Cancer Hospital in Athens. At the same time, he observed the work and participated in surgical procedures at the 4th Surgical Clinic (Breast Clinic) at the same hospital, gaining in-depth knowledge of the management of breast conditions and the surgical treatment of breast cancer from experienced surgeons.
At the same time, from 2010 to 2012, he attended the postgraduate programme at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) entitled ‘Research in Female Reproduction’, which she completed with a grade of ‘Distinction’ (9.24/10) and was awarded the corresponding specialisation title.
From 2012 to 2016, he specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the First Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic of the University of Athens (UoA), at the “Alexandra” General Hospital. In 2016, she achieved top marks in the Ministry of Health examinations and was awarded the title of Obstetrician-Gynaecologist with distinction by the examination board. He then specialised for three years in the Breast Unit of the same Department and served as a research associate and assistant doctor in the Department.
In 2025, he was awarded a PhD from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a thesis on breast diseases, receiving a unanimous ‘Distinction’ grade.
He actively participates in numerous conferences and seminars as part of his continuing professional development and has produced a significant number of scientific publications. He has also taken part in voluntary initiatives for the prevention of breast cancer, both in Athens and in remote areas of the country.
He holds certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) from the American College of Surgeons, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) from the American Academy of Family Physicians, and certification from the IBUS Breast Imaging School – Multimodality Breast Imaging and Image-Guided Interventions Course, Detection, Diagnosis, Management from the Scientific Society of Mastology.
Since 2019, he has been working as a private practitioner, running a gynaecology practice in Athens (Mavili Square area), and collaborating with the ‘Mitera’, ‘Iaso’, ‘Rea’, as well as the gynaecology clinic at the ‘Henrik Dunant’ Hospital. Since 2021, he has been a consultant at the Breast Clinic of ‘Euroclinic Athens’.
He is a member of the Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Hellenic Society of Breast Surgery, the Hellenic Society of Breast Diseases ( ) and the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine. Since 2018, he has been an elected member of the Disciplinary Council of the Hellenic Society of Gynaecological Breast Diseases.
The doctor has significant experience in the management of gynaecological, obstetric and breast conditions, with a particular emphasis on practising medicine in accordance with the latest guidelines and modern treatment protocols (“evidence-based medicine”).
